Reviews of Anything Ghost

"Ever thought that bump in the night was the sound of a poltergeist doing press-ups? Then email your story to Anything Ghost and it might be read out in a forthcoming podcast. A browse through the archive reveals that most of the contributors are Americans, so it's about time us Brits revealed our close encounters of the spooky kind."

"Anything Ghost, hosted by Lex---Sublime in its simplicity, this Podcast features a soft-spoken dude reading ghost stories over creepy music and the occasional sound effect. With the proper iPod plug-in or adapter, this show is best enjoyed on your car stereo while driving at night."

"This show boasts the best theme song of any podcast that I've heard since my addiction for the medium began around six months ago. A man named Lex is the show's creator, host, and also the composer of the theme song. The premise of the podcast is brilliant in its simplicity. Listeners send in stories of the paranormal, and Lex shares them. Usually he will read the stories, adding minimal sound effects in the same tasteful manner that he applied to the theme song. Occasionally, the listeners record their own audio and send it in, which adds a nice element of diversity to the program. Often, after having read and/or played the stories which are sent to him, Lex will read tales of the paranormal from outside sources."

"All in all, this is a great podcast. Lex has a very nice style of delivery, we hear some fine original music, and most of the stories are interesting..."

"...In addition to the podcast, the Anything Ghost website has other treats, including Lex's music, some photos, and film reviews."

"Anything Ghost is a podcast devoted to, well, anything related to ghosts and paranormal experiences. People mail in their experiences, big or small, and Lex, the narrator, reads them, or plays the mp3s that people make themselves reading their own experiences..."

"The sound quality is quite high, especially for an amateur podcast. Shows average about 45 minutes to an hour. From castles to lighthouses to litterboxes, no ghost or haunting is too small to escape the notice of Lex and his listeners."

"Whether you are a confirmed skeptic, a believer, or just curious, Anything Ghost might interest you. Learn more about Lex and the podcast at the official website. If nothing else, it's interesting and fun."

"Recently I've been trying a few paranormal Podcasts, and the standout for me is "Anything Ghost", which has a simple but effective format.  Checkout the website here: www.anythingghost.com

Basically, listeners Email the host - "Lex" - with true first-hand ghostly experiences - and he reads them on air.  You can also send him an audio file (.wav or mp3), and  Lex will pop it into the podcast - and you get the pleasure (or otherwise) of hearing yourself tell your own story.

Lex stresses that stories should be first hand experiences - no "this-happened-to-a-friend-of-a-friend-uncle's-postman's-nephew", and he seems to have an uncanny (!) knack of weeding out the more obviously made-up, or urban legend type stories.

Lex also writes the music for the show - and very good it is too. The "Anything Ghost" theme fits the Podcast perfectly.  And he doesn't overdo the sound effects - he just adds subtle background enhancements - which make the listening experience more enjoyable.

Lex's style of delivery is - idiosyncratic.  He's softly-spoken, and obviously not a professional broadcaster - but  he imbues every podcast with a warmth and humanity that you don't find in any other Podcast - paranormal or otherwise.  This isn't just an ego-trip for him - he cares about the stores he reads, and he's created the perfect place for ordinary people to share their ghostly encounters - without fearing they'll be ridiculed or judged harshly.

I really can't recommend this Podcast highly enough.  Try it for yourself - but be warned - you'll get hooked."
